The "Sponsored" series started as screenshots of some targeted Instagram clothing ads in which I noticed women's heads were being cropped awkwardly out of the frame. I imagined the frame being continued upward to reveal something (else) totally absurd - as absurd as the internet suggesting what I should wear.
These works are one part sponsored-clothing-ad and one part trophy-fishing-photo-op (with the fisherman's hands photoshoped out)-- a combination that creates a strikingly mythical woman.
The "Trophy" series is a collection of female busts displayed as traditional trophy mounts and layered with references to the contemporary, online power-structure used for ranking and ordering individuals. These subjects are digitally stylized, rendered in oil, and larger-than-life. They protrude from vintage papered walls, but their expressions are obscured beneath digital symbols of power and popularity.
